How you can help -
A message from the Legalise Cannabis Alliance

From the LCA - to visit their website click here

Dear Campaigner,

You have probably heard in the news recently that Colin Davis recently opened
the 'Dutch Experience' cannabis cafe in Stockport.

Following the Home Secretary David Blunkett's announcement that he proposed
that cannabis be reclassified as a class C drug within the Misuse of Drugs Act
1971, Colin and his Dutch partner announced that the cafe would open and sell cannabis to "recreational users" in order to help finance the free supply to
people in dire medical need.

Colin Davis is the man who has been found not guilty of supplying cannabis on the grounds of medical necessity and who handed the Queen a bouquet of flowers with cannabis buds.

The Dutch Experience was closed within minutes of opening and Colin was arrested (NB after a struggle with police during which Colin who suffers from spinal injuries, was hurt badly). But that did not keep the cafe closed for long!

Colin was put on bail on condition that he did not sell cannabis at the cafe, but was arrested again along with others during a police raid a few weeks ago.

Since then, Colin has been placed on remand in Strangeways Prison.

Colin is of course not able to get his herbal medicine in prison and suffered so much pain that he was transferred to the hospital wing and given - believe it or not - morphine!

Despite several protests in Stockport and further arrests which included disabled people in wheelchairs, Colin has been refused bail and is still locked up.

IT IS SURELY TIME FOR US TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS APPALLING INJUSTICE!

Of course visits to the cafe are welcome as is attendance at one of the demonstrations

planned over the next few weeks, but we can do a little more by EXPRESSING OUR FEELINGS AND OPINIONS TO THE PRESS AND THE CPS.

I would suggest that you write from the angle that, bearing in mind his previous not-guilty verdicts in Manchester Crown Court, the Home Secretary's proposals and public opinion, IT IS NOT IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST TO KEEP COLIN IN
PRISON.

Please write as many letters - and get your friends to do the same.

Here are some addresses and e-mails to use. (If you need mailing address please
use directory inquiries)
