ANTI-CONTAMINATION CAMPAIGN!!!! your help needed
Posted by: ganjagav (IP Logged)

Right folks, enough is enough when it comes to the contaminated cannabis issue

here in the UK, we should start a serious campaign against it, start tryin to get it in to the tabloids, on the radio , in the news again.... i know it was lightly touched on by some of the redtop papers and wales today covered it in a wee bit of detail but the only way to really beat it is either mass cultivation or awareness of the issue, and theres jus not enough local produce in most areas to eradicate contamiabis, the summer is fast approaching and in turn the amount of cannabis smoked in the uk will increase greatly in the coming months, not to mention new tokers, DONT LET THEM FALL VICTIM

im sure there is enough people in UKCIA, LCA, UK420 and many other organistations that are willing to help with the cause, it is clearly a hot topic here on UKCIA with many already doing their bit to end it... surely there are enough contacts between us and the other UK cannabis communities to get the blunt rolling and centralise a campaign to try gain some sort of media coverage,

Im going to be putting a video together over the next month documenting everything possible regarding the contamination issue and the current state of the UK cannabis scene, i will be needing as much help as possible from you all to do so, im askin people to dig up as much reliable information/video/audio/pictures about contamination and pass them on to me, even if you wish to create/add content music/reports/images/vids you have in relation to any contaminated ganja please feel free to pass them onto me, once this video is compiled and edited i will be trying to blitz the internet with it and sending it to as many UK smokers as possible, I know this will have little if any impact on the UK tokers but the way i see it if ya not part of the solution your part of the problem, its time to stop fuckin around and end this madness, YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

if anyone has any suggestions or ideas to help begin a campaig or spread the word all ideas welcomed ,

ITS TIME!!!!!!!

Hey gav,

Check out my Cuttin Agent thread, most of it you probably aware of anyway but worth a look.

Another thing you can do is a search of google/yahoo video and images and search for any grit/contaminated cannabis related media. There are also a number of youtube users based in the UK who are activly spreading the word about contamination if you want to network with them i can provide you with their details.

Im not sure the press/tabloids etc will want to have anything to do with this issue especially as the classification debate will be finalised this summer and with the ACMD due to give out their decision this Monday, but i maybe wrong?

Im sure that cannabis users know about contamination, any coverage given by the press would help but what could we say that we havent said on the internet? All the people smoking and buying this stuff are doing it out of ignorance/greed or because they just dont give a flying ****.

But any help you might need plz let me know, nice GG.

Here's an idea.

Design a little card that reputable sellers can include in their baggies that states:

- The seller of this cannabis is proud to inform you that it contains no grit/sugar/brix/lead or any other contaminants that are identifiable through use or home testing. Beware of contamabis!

Now I know that this is potentially exploitable but even the sploiters would be alerting their buyers to the contam issue and thus enlightening their audience who will then be more inclined to do their own research to be sure of what they've bought.

The card would be available as a pdf of a sheet of 12 to be printed on A4 sheets and chopped up.

I think it would be great marketing for the sellers of clean weed and a good educational tool for the unenlightened buyers of contam weed. The card could carry close up shots of the more obvious contaminates such as grit, brix and lead for further identifcation and awareness purposes.

I'm happy to knock up a layout and make the PDF for it. Derek, could we get this UKCIA authorised maybe? I realise there may be an issue with endorsing the sale of illegal substances but maybe some wording can be sroted out that would exempt UKCIA from any liability on that front.

What you think?

Ok I've done some cards as mentioned and they are available for download to print, chop up and use at:

[stashbox.org]

Derek, I've included an educational plug for UKCIA. I don't think this makes UKCIA liable in anyway as it's purely for information purposes, stating: "Find out more about contaminated weed at: www.ukcia.org". Let me know if that compromises you at all and I'll pull the file off and change it.

Spread the word folks!

Hi Erkat

Having the UKCIA link on there is fine, indeed, thanks!

Not sure if it is a good idea though because anyone can claim their weed is pure, that's the problem we have now.

I think a warning of what to look out for would be better TBH, honest dealers would be happy to give something like that out I'd have thought.

Nice looking design BTW

Hi Derek,

I understand your concern and this why I included the "to the best of their knowlegde and tests" line as a disclaimer as no one can honestly claim that green is 100% clean unless they have access to a spectro analyser.

Even though people may exploit the cards through using them to sell unclean green then the same suppliers are also helping the educational cause. I have faith in the swarm in this way, if a dealer claims it's clean when it's not through these cards and then buyers do their research and find out they've been buying contam under a clean green label then they'll be doubly pissed off with their dealer. Sure a few sploiters will get through the net but in the long run it should work, I think.

But I take your point, nothing is infallible and there is a risk that some improper use of these labels would result in people buying green that they trusted to be clean. But hopefully by having the NO GRIT, NO BRIX etc lines on there the educational part is being fulfilled as well. To say that something doesn't contain something that you've never heard of would hopefully make people more willing to research, hence the UKCIA link.

Chuffed you like the design :)

I was thinking about getting some t-shirts done and selling them at cost before this. But in all honesty I can't see folks tunring up at their provider's place with a JUST SAY NO TO CONTAM! t-shirt on as much as I'd like to.

I think this way the good suppliers can make their claim and the sploiters will always spoilt unfortunately, but hopefully they may inadvertently educate as well. If there was a line that said that you should always check your green despite the claims of the card then I wouldn't see anyone using them as that would throw the claim into doubt.

Anyway, I guess we'll see what happens.

Awesome stuff Erkat ..... i already followed the T-shirt line of enquiry , for the PUT AN END TO CONTAMINATION... PLANT A SEED SAVE A NATION, and it was going to work out cheap enough to get em supplied, that said it could be good publicity/good fund raiser for the UKCIA on the road idea i suggested to raise awareness at festivals/events , that way we wont be capatalising on contamination by proffiting from em......highland papers is another idea,

Hey man,
im living in ireland and for the past three years the majority of weed is riddled with grit or paste or whatever the hell it is.there are virtualy no dealers selling clean weed.when the good stuff finally does come about there selling the stuff for like 50 euro for 3 grams.its a joke.the authoritys are seizing more and more as the years go by.this is a direct affect of scum bags spraying there weed...they think there stopping the dealers when in fact there doing them a favour...there making more money from contaminated weed and more money from clean weed.thats not all,as you probably know soapbar is still being sold in truckloads and people are still buying and smoking this shit...the quality is getting worse,in fact id say youd be lucky to find any thc at all in this shite.i havent been high in 3 months.when will they ever learn.

I am not sure if anyone else has written in about the recent article in Forensic Science International - for which New Scientist (1/11/08) gives the reference DOI: 10.1016/j.forsciint.2008.09.002 - by Dries de Kaste et al, at the National Institute of Public Health & the Environment in the Netherlands. It reports that Dutch cannabis is being adulterated with a liquid containing homosildenafil and thiohomsildenafil - which belong to the same class of 'erectogenic' chemicals as sildenafil - more commonly known as Viagra. This is gift to any cartoonists out there...

Has anyone thought of taking this to facebook and making an anti contamination group and/or maybe posting the said video that Gav will make in their status ? I would broadcast it around my faceook but theres a few people I work with have been fooled by the press that cannabis is some sort of mind bending lethal drug and it could affect my job security a bit!
Anyway, I really like what people are trying to do about this as I for one am actually getting quite upset thinking about what all this contamination is/could be doing to people around Europe...
