Dunno Derek, I rekon that stuff would be small enough to be sucked though a gauze. I always smoke with a pipe but think the best thing is to steer clear. I doubt it will be long until someone gets to the bottom of what it is.

Hello there, concerned cannabis users, I am a journalist writing a story about this substance which is being mixed with herbal cannabis. I am in contact with police,, the home office and health authorities and at the moment everyone is drawing a blank.
Speaking to health professionals, this substance could be the cause of a serious health risk.
I would greatly appreciate anyone who can offer me a sample of the stuff, which I am led to believe is silica, for testing, should the home office or police offer to do so.
Also, if anyone could give me a five minute phone interview, obviously as anonymous concerned smoker, Bob, that would be cool too.
If anyone has become ill through smoking this contaminated substance or has anymore info, I'd like to hear that.

Thanks in advance, guys, for you help

whhoowwww someone that wants to expose this sham as it is! nice to hear from you gareth.we need your help.
unfortunatly my phone isnt working at the mo should be sorted soon...do u have any other way of contact?email? or something? i have a small bag of this so called sand/FG! just for you - i would be only to happy to send it away to be tested... - we need to know whats kicking off with this shit....
i still firmly believe theres more than one contamination - only because of the weed ive seen..

people...also i have a feeling that this crap is something to do with the b'ham area?

my mate came round the other day...got it out and asked me to look at it! this time it actually didnt look sandy at all like others types....gave it a tap and shit loads of gritty sand substance fell out including reflective bits.
he was horrified - BUT still smoked it, which is unbelievable.
ignorance is bliss...ey.
most people think like this...like they do with smoking the devil (tobbaco)! if it isnt hurting you right now and you cant noticed it - they will carry on.

anyways....i would look to hear from you soon!

keep up the goodwork everyone....will we find out exactly what this crap is? i think so
peace x

Hi All,

First post here - I'm in the Birmingham area and have just met up with a friend who has had some of this shitty gritty green.

He's separated it all (he had about an oz) by grinding it all and using a tea-strainer, and managed to get nearly half an oz out in grit (and probably some good stuff too, but hey)... I took some of the grit and rubbed it on my arm, and now have a rash there - still don't know what it is though. The rash makes me think it's fibre glass, but it burns and I didn't think fibre glass did? When it gets wet it seems to become more of a gel... all very weird.

Anyway, what's left seems clean, but the grit was all the way through - break a bud open and it's all gritty inside too (???). Some of the grit looks like fine sand, and some of it is shiny - I don't have anything to magnify it with so can't say more.

We would have used a bong, but as this stuff burns there isn't much point....

Dave

dave...hey there just read ur post! this is exactly what we have been experiencing.lets say out of an 8th there would be 1.8 grams of grit/FG/who knows.
shocking that you got nearly halve oz of shit with ur green

it scares me when u wrote about the little test with ur arm - OMG i did experience something on the lines of this wen i held a bud. i started to itch, and a burning sensation appeared.
GEL? my life, never got any wet so i couldnt comment, but shit it doesnt sound good at all.
have you still got some? theres a journalist on the other page...wanting samples to test? i think that would be the way forward at this present time!
we dont know what it is...where its from..nothing! this way we can find out - this is a serious health risk to all tokers.Medicinal and recreational

big up to the midlands hehe....(im from a crap town, few miles away from urself.)

My mate put it all in a baggie, so yeah - plenty to go around. A bit nervous about talking to some guy who says he's a journalist though.... (no disrespect, he may well be genuine, but how would I know?)

And anyone interested in a rash update - it's been about an hour and now instead of being red raw like I've fallen off a motorbike, it looks more like loads of insect bites - nice.... what I do for science... ;o)

I know what life's like, but if you've got to smoke this crap - at least use a filter. I smoked some of it once it had been 'cleaned'... no obvious sign of the grit and no sand in my mouth after, so maybe it's OK... no idea

I should have also mentioned that although I smoke everyday I'm in very good health, and this week I've had 1 migraine and 2 headaches that were not as bad, but still sent me to bed.... my mate got the weed on Friday... coincidence?

I can't tell if I'm becoming paranoid with all this I'm reading. I've been smoking long enough that when plastic started turning up in resin it ruined my social life... looks like a few years have passed but we're here again... no one I know has any clean gear...

yeh definatley....HEY Gareth the journalist...what paper are you from??we want to know more details please..

i just cant believe that ur arm has come out like that..shit!!
what is this shite?
no offence superdave but i wont even use a filter-its far too dangerous especially because we dont know excatly what this forgien body is, to the scrumptious plant..
yeh my boyfriend has been getting headaches, he smoked it thru a filter - the pain was located on the side of the head.
i personally refuse, im lucky 4 the mo..managed to find HG

sorry to go on but this reaction that ur having-it sounds frightening, thanks for donating ur body to science lol..hehe

Hi All, and congrats to all who are brave enough to speak out on this forum.

My girlfriend and I have been aware of this contamination for several months now and we have been keeping my eye on this forum with increasing concern.

Here's things how we see it.

There's four groups of smokers caught up in this:

1) Those who know about the contamination and are flatly refusing to smoke it. THIS IS WHAT YOU ALL **MUST** DO.

2) Those who know about the contamination and think it is OK to 'shake it off' / filter it / pipe it / bong it. THIS IS NOT OK.

3) Those who know about the contamination and are (somehow) convincing themselves it is OK to smoke in the normal way. THIS IS NOT OK.

4) Worst of all - those who have no idea at all. THESE ARE KIDS AT SCHOOL, FOLK WHO KNOW NO BETTER, UNKNOWINGLY DESTROYING DELICATE LUNGS AND THROATS WITH THIS EVIL POISON.

LOVERS OF LIFE:

DO NOT BUY THIS & MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT SMOKE IT!!!

Intuition screams that this something very serious and it is disturbing us greatly - it sends a chill to the bottom of our very souls.

Educate everyone you can and save some lives.

Go without until the dark cloud lifts.

Read a book, crank up some tunes, light a candle and an incense stick with a glass of nice wine; please don't kill yourselves with this vile substance.

Peace, Love and Light.

I've been selling for around 18 months and I've always tried to be as ethical as possible. When involved in the black market (lets face it I am) ethical isn't a term you often come across but I've always sold the correct quantity and informed the buyer of the quality before purchase. I cannot justify selling this bullshit sandy/maizy/glucosy/fibreglassy weed to my worst enemy. I have tried a million different dealers and this shit is everywhere. Up and down the country.
Luckily I found a grower recently and had a good supply of cali orange bud for a while, now thats gone...

Tried washing it and drying it out, looses loads of potency and still tastes horrible.

Roll on sand coated christmas drought.

Well, this is what I found out for you

The stuff is called Gorilla,[it has a few other names]it used to be used by photographers to make photos of bud look good in a picture, all sparkly,as in your picture above.

Now it is used by growers, and here is what they do

buy a bottle of the stuff, mix with water, shaking very well, then spray the plant saturating it totally
turn off light, and leave for I am unsure, cannot remember, three weeks, or five weeks
then cut and dry as normal
it is then sold on the streets as:

snow queen
ice princess
white widow

there are a few others, but cannot remember those names either sorry, good crystal growth, and a nice name, puts up price!

But, and the big but here is, as yet no one knows if the silicone type particles are cancergenic or not

hope that answers the question for you

Can't believe this is still going on!!

Not sure whats worse, travelling 16000 miles to see England lose in the cricket or coming back to more gritshit!!

Least the weed in Oz was good, If they think the UK has a drug problem then they should look at Australia, it's everywhere! Really strong stuff as well.

Xmas is coming , things will improve !! I hope ;-)

to be honest the time has come to protest

i'm proud of our stoner community, and the size of this thread...

but im getting so concerned about this situation and the rate it is still spreading at, that i would glady and openly admit to being a smoker and force the legality issue.

i've had enough of it

Life is precious. its time for some crappy laws steaming out of racism in pre-1930's america were re-considered.

How are there only 700 ish signatures on the pm's website? come on, your mum can sign it if she has to... explain the issue. make people listen, its time to defend ourselves and our rights.

I couldn't agree more. I, like many others only came across this forum because I was interested in the extent of this contamination. Now we know how big this thing is and how likely it is to continue we should protest. I was considering actually sending some contaminated bud to the home office..

If one person a day does it, they'll think me crazy

If one hundred people a day do it, they might think its a movement

If one thousand people a day do it...

we may have ourselves a revolution.

Peace

im from nelson and i have recenytly started tasting the bud, puttin it between my top and bottom front teeth there is a distinct crunch , before i had some which looked like that picture posted here, that didnt burn i had a load of sand at the bottom of my bag white in appareance and glittered, its definately that stuff i put the dust in a joint n it kept going out !!

does normal weed crunch ?, like the thc, i have only recently started tasting it... i am slightly confused as i have a bag n its crunchy but not as crunchy as the other stuff and before i got some good stuff it stunk but that was also crunch.//...the particles on this weed are very small and glittery...is thc not glittery..????

Hi

If you have some of this glass-grass as I call it and are not happy about handing it to a journalist or police etc, put it in an envelope and enclose a brief note saying what it is and send it to John Reid, Home Office, London OR send it to the BBC News. If everyone starts to do this - after all it's better than smoking it whether or not one thinks it's been cleaned - then maybe they will make a story about it.

I had a letter printed in my local paper on Saturday last, haven't seen exactly what was printed yet, but here's the letter if anyone wishes to cut and paste or edit it to send to their paper OR send verbatim using my own details as sender - I have edited it slightly here:

Dear Sirs,

There's a potentially lethal form of contamination on the illegal cananbsi market recently. It's not on the "bud" (the flowering heads commonly sold as "skunk" - often a misnomer).

The bud seems to have been sprayed with some sort of ground glass or
gritty silica - it falls out when shaken but sticks to the inside and
outside of the plant bud.

I am sure I don't need to tell anyone the possible dire consequences of
smoking that, particularly when through unfiltered tobacco joints - yet people take the risk (as they do). I have heard of people coughing up blood!

Reports have been coming in from across the UK, Ireland and some places in Europe. It is clearly being done on a massive scale.

I would like to ask why neither the police nor the department of Health of Home Office has issued warnings.

This "glass-grass" could be deadly - it may show (to the police who apparently see low quality and high prices as a good sign that their tactics are working - one of
their yardsticks) - surely warnings MUST be issued. The Government can
spend millions advertising that cannabis is illegal or by making a nonsensical Frank Brain Shop advert - now what about spending some on actually doing some good?

By the way, there's some photo's of this on www.ukcia.org

Yours sincerely
