lighting for lowryder

Hi people
Im just wondering about vegetation and flowering lighting for a lowryder plant.
It goes straight from seedling to the flowering stage but ive read that people are still using a vegitation prompting light (of about 6500k) for the first couple of weeks of growing.
Im just wondering, is this essential for a successful grow? or can i get away with using a 2700k flowering prompting light all the way through the grow and get good results?

Answers will be greatly appreceated
Thanks.

Theres a website called Rollitup.org which is all about growing weed, go there and you will probably get a faster answer. :)
