E-mail sent to Simon Cooper at Essex CC following the failure of Smartfilter to change the category of UKCIA

Many thanks for the explaination of how Essex came to censor drugs websites. It does raise a number of issues which I will persue and will no doubt take up with you at a later date after I've done some research.

However, the change promised by Smartfilter has not taken place as of 23/11/03 and UKCIA and is still listed under the heading "Drugs,Politics/Religion" on Smarfilters database, it is thus still being filtered from your library computers. I have complained again to smart filter but it seems this way of tackling the problem is ineffective.

This situation is totally unacceptable, please remove the filter on UKCIA forthwith.

The LCA site is also still listed under the same category and I will inform their webmaster of the situation.
