Phantom Limb Pain

Thursday 05 Feb 2009

I was diagnosed with a terminal bone cancer at the age of 11. I ended up having my left leg amputated right above the knee. All attempts to control nerve pain in the stump failed; darvoset, percoset, tremadol, etc. I don't like narcotics due to the fact that they are highly addictive. I started smoking cannabis in 1977 and have been smoking ever since. When I smoke it alleviates the pain and pressure in my stump and my orthopaedic surgeon told me the best thing for "phantom pains" is to smoke a "wonder joint". Unfortunately, the state of Georgia is one of the most backward/backwater thinking states in this country and believe it's ok to get addicted to alcohol to alleviate pain, but are shocked at the thought of decriminalizing marijuana for medical purposes. All my doctors claim I am a textbook example for cannabis use. You may use my name and e-mail if you so choose. I have nothing to hide from anyone trying to help me and others like me.
