Name: Debbie
Condition: Crumbling lower spine, curvature of the upper spinal cord. Rheumatoid arthritis
Friday 22 Jan 2016

I am 48 years old & as a teenager in the 80/90's I was a recreational user.
However as most "kids" I stopped using and "grew up".

When I was in my mid 20's I had 2 small brain hemorrhages which left me with memory problems.

At the age of 35 I was diagnosed with a crumbling lower spine, curvature of the upper spinal cord, rheumatoid arthritis in my knees & ankles. At the age of 40 this spread to my hands & wrists & also diagnosed with gout in my feet.

I was having injections in my lower back every 6 months for 4 years but that didn't help. I was also given liquid morphine on top of slow release morphine & several other pain killers. I have hospitalized with the pain & been put of a morphine pump.

I read a lot about cannabis use for various medical conditions including pain management. So I figured what the hell I'll give it a go, if nothing else I'll be stoned & won't care about the pain. I was "lucky" enough to live in an area where finding a dealer wasn't hard.

The first time I smoked it the pain seemed to really ease up.
I'm now off the liquid morphine & co-dydromol (although still on slow release). I am only able to type this because smoking cannabis eases the severe pain I suffer in my hands. It's also helped with the shakes that I get (I was on meds for that too, which I'm off now also).

Medical cannabis has given me back part of my life again. I can get out bed instead of being laid up for days of end because I was in so much pain I couldn't get up. I only wish I didn't have to break the law just to get some relieve & live a semi normal life.
