Drug dealings

Sep 16 2008 by Andrew Jackson, Huddersfield Daily Examiner

A STORY about drugs showed, that as with many other issues, there is more than one school of thought on the big issues.

The Examiner’s story about an increase in the seizures of opium by the police struck a chord.

Within the story, police revealed that some of the parcels of opium had been broken down and disguised as sweets, in order to fool the authorities.

Regular poster Waspish said: “Why not make drug dealing a ten year sentence? It will never get better while they get free lawyers and a six month probation. At worst.

“The police were in the railway station last weekend with drug sniffer dogs. They were catching people left, right and centre. The dog was loving it, the police were having a good time and the passengers got to laugh at every single one of them squirming because they were caught out carrying drugs. A job well done I say.”

Seemingly intent to carve out a niche as Huddersfield’s own Littlejohn, despondent said: “Our doors are open to Europe, this must be the results of the influx of ‘skilled’ workers our politicians are keen to encourage.”

While overthegardenwall had their own ideas: “Must include boiled goods manufacture as well!”

TommyDGNR8 had a different view: “Alternatively, why not stop kidding ourselves that a century of prohibition has had any benefit whatsoever?

“Legalise the use of recreational drugs (yes, all of them); save lives by implementing quality control; raise money through taxation; stop criminalising people because of their personal vice; slash petty crime (something like 80% of all burglaries in the UK are to fund some poor sap’s addiction); take control of the supply chain away from organised criminals and international terrorists.”
