Day - 4th May 2002 - LondonThe
forth Ganja day organised by the International Cannabis Coalition took place on
4th May, 2002. I'd travelled down from Norwich the night before with the people
running the LCA/CLCIA stall, which meant camping overnight in Brockwell Park.
Not many people get to sleep in a tent in downtown Brixton ... So
the day dawns nice and early and wow, the sun's shining. At least the weather
is going to be better than last year when it poured down. Several cups of tea
and things later I suddenly realise it's nearly time for the march to start, so
we have a mad dash (on a bus) through the crowded streets of South London, arriving
at the Oval tube station where the march was due to start with about 15 minutes
to spare. There's
already a fair sized crowd there and hordes of police of course, but they didn't
have much to do apart from stopping cars running us over - this, of course, is
Lambeth, where the go easy on cannabis regime has been running for nearly a year. |
